THE COLOR PURPLE REVIEW-(PRE-2020)

The Color Purple-beautiful Photography by the Curve Theatre

A couple of years ago I went to watch the award winning Colour Purple which was a live theatre performance held at the Curve Theatre, Leicester. Because theatres are still closed for business, The Colour Purple was also available to watch online. Musicians combined blues, gospel and jazz which beautifully complimented soulful vocals together. This play is about being strong and standing up for what you believe in. The story is based on a racially divided South America. It also celebrates life and love.

A fantastic show which used state of the art equipment such as lighting and props. This was set on the main stage and I was sitting towards the front so it felt very intimate even though I was watching a live theatre performance. Also the choice of costumes enhanced the character's individual personalities.

This astonishing play brought creative artists to Leicester with their world class creation. Not only that it also created a sense of community around Leicester. This project also worked with local community groups and young people around Leicester. Directed by Tinuke Craig
