LOCKDOWN/SELF ISOLATING? THE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO KEEP YOUR MIND OCCUPIED!

Growing up as an only child, I took up many hobbies such as painting, crocheting, cycling, making up dance routines, cooking. These are the skills that I still use today which inspired me to create my own fashion accessories and sell them on my website. However cycling may not be accessible under the current circumstances. We are lucky we are not in war and facing isolation in a tiny bunker or in worse conditions such as cellars that do not have any access to fresh water or any clean toilets. We are lucky that we have access to the internet which is why I have typed up this post.

See this as an opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones. If you have children then this is the perfect time to play boards games, create artwork, teach them new skills such as playing an instrument, baking a cake together, watch animated films for a couple of hours.

I find that yoga and meditation really helps. This involves sitting cross legged and placing hands on knees. Breathe in deeply from the stomach, hold for 4 seconds and then breathe out. Play relaxing music too. This will calm the mind and also improve blood circulation and release any endorphins around the body. If you have access to a garden then this maybe the perfect opportunity to sit outside and meditate. Fresh air is vital and it is good for the lungs as we breathe in the oxygen.

If yoga isn't your cup of tea maybe take up another form of exercise such as sit ups, dancing around your living room to one of your favourite songs! Call that best friend of yours and have a live dance off on Skype! Or practice your footie skills by playing a bit of soccer in your garden if it is big enough (just watch out for your neighbour's window).

Read books about a subject you are most passionate about or go for something completely different. You maybe surprised. Get in touch with that child version of you again. This will help you in the long term and inspire you to achieve bigger goals and release the stress and anxiety during this moment of time. It is important to stay calm and ride this storm. It is a virus and we must break the chain. Think of those in third world countries that have poor sanitation. We have access to fresh water and heaps of medical supplies. We have access to local food stores, which will always be re stocked.

In the mean time I hope that this has inspired you and I have gave you some sort of comfort. Feel free to browse on my website and have a look at some of the accessories I have created. Thank you for reading my article!
