CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF

I went to see a live performance called Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Curve Theatre. One of the main characters Maggie, is brought up in poverty and is adamant to save her loveless marriage to former footballer Brick Pollitt who drinks an excessive amount of alcohol to drown his sorrows.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is based around the lives of people in the Mississippi. This performance is from the original 1958 masterpiece written by Tennessee Williams. A society that wants to feel free from the pressure of everyday life.

I thought this was an excellent performance. An elegant creation based around a classical masterpiece. There is emotional and sexual intensity between Brick and Maggie. Maggie's desire to save her marriage is highlighted throughout the performance. Brick has feelings bottled up inside of him. His moody, cold hearted character is one of the main focus during the performance.

There was also a 20 minute interval halfway throughout the show. However it would have been appropriate if they communicated this with the audience which led me to a bit of confusion. I personally thought that this was the end of the show.

The centre stage consisted of a transparent curtain set in a circular frame. Excellent use of lighting. This play has a sense of humour as well as a realistic view of what life is like in the modern era! We can all relate to this.

So that is what I did during the weekend! Thank you for reading this week's article! Have a lovely week!
