LANZAROTE STOPOVER

I like the view of the plantation on the roundabout, the colours of the leaves are beautiful

After spending a few days in the beautiful town of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, we flew back to the UK. There was a stopover in Lanzarote. This was a five hour stopover. I was really excited as it was another place added to my list of adventures. To our amazement the flight from Las Palmas to Lanzarote was 45 minutes long and it was even shorter than expected! It was on Air Europa and it was the shortest flight I have ever sat on as it was a smaller jet. I was honoured to travel on this flight and so was my friend! She insisted that she wanted to sit next to the window so I let her as it was her first experience as a holiday maker. She took many pictures during take off as she switched her phone to flight mode.

Walking around Lanzarote

Once we landed, we decided to have a look around Lanzarote. The beach was on the other side of the airport and we didn't want to take that risk by travelling too far. We decided to stay near the airport and I took some scenic pictures. Lanzarote is one of the oldest Canary Islands. Like many destinations around the world, Lanzarote also has it's myths and mysteries.

Early inhabitants are originally known to be from Berbers who originated from North Africa. According to archaeologists, the Greeks and Romans knew of the existence as pieces of metal and glass were found which indicated that they most likely traded with the locals that lived in Lanzarote. Overall we enjoyed our short stopover and also managed to sunbathe on the roof terrace in the airport as we could see the sea in the distance which had a spectacular view as the water glistened!
